The practical training course on Electron Microscopy (EM) will feature a lecture on the technical basis of EM as well as practical hands on training sessions on EM sample preparation (classical chemical fixation and high pressure freeze cryo fixation), cutting ultrathin sections of plastic embedded samples, as well as the analysis of samples using the transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The first EM course will last one and a half days and will be open for a group of six students. The course will also include a final discussion and analysis of the results obtained.
